Morning:
7:00 AM
– Wake up and get ready for the day. Stretch, freshen up, and prepare for an active day ahead.
7:30 AM
– Breakfast: Enjoy a healthy and hearty breakfast to fuel your day, including fruits, whole grains, and proteins.
8:00 AM
– Leave for the project site. Make sure to pack all necessary items for the day, including water, snacks, and any materials needed for your work. A local transport ( matatu) will work well , it’s cheap and the drivers are very friendly.
8:30 AM
– Start work: Begin your tasks at the project site. This could involve community service, educational activities, construction, or other volunteer activities
10:00 AM
– Tea break: Take a 15-minute break to relax and recharge. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, and have a light snack if needed. Some places they provide tea and local short bread (mandazi)
10:15 AM
– Resume work: Continue with your volunteer activities, engaging with the community and working towards the project’s goals.
12:50 PM
– Lunch break: Take a break for lunch. Opt for a balanced meal that provides energy without making you sluggish. This is also a good time to socialize with fellow volunteers or community members.
2:00 PM
– Back to work: Return to your tasks with renewed energy and focus, aiming to make the most of your afternoon.
3:00 PM
– Games time: Participate in or organize recreational activities like football or basketball matches with students. Netball or tennis balls coaching or playing with students very exciting. You can opt for yoga session.
4:00 PM
– Wrap up: Start concluding your activities and clean up the work area. Ensure all tools and materials are stored properly.
5:00 PM
– Leave for home: Head back home, reflecting on the day’s accomplishments and planning for the next day.
This routine provides a balanced mix of work, breaks, and social activities, ensuring a productive and enjoyable volunteer experience.
